What To Do When It Rains – Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies

There are so many reasons to love rain. It’s restorative, it’s grounding and it’s invigorating.

But when you’re planning an outdoor wedding ceremony, rain can be a real downer. You’ve spent weeks or even months planning, you’ve got all your guests coming from far and wide, and now it looks like your big day is going to be ruined by rain clouds! However, don’t despair because there are ways to prepare beforehand.

The good news is that the forecast for your wedding day may not be as bad as it appears – there are lots of things you can do to avoid a drenched ceremony.

Here are some tips to handle rain at a wedding ceremony:

  1. Get creative with a tent/marquee – A tent is one way of keeping everything dry even if it rains. But don’t just think about popping it up over the ceremony area β€” think about how you can make it look beautiful too! Tents come in all shapes and sizes, so find the one that would accommodate your guests seamlessly.
  2. Use a backup location – If the forecast calls for rain, contact your venue manager and ask if there are backup options available such as an indoor space or a covered patio area. Some venues have pavilions or covered areas available as backup locations, so make sure to ask about these as well.
  3. Bring umbrellas – If it’s raining during your wedding ceremony, then you’re going to need some umbrellas for everyone – including yourself! Make sure that every guest has one before they arrive at the venue, and have the staff make sure that no one gets left out in the rain.
  4. Have your photographer take photos of you in the rain – This is an amazing opportunity for some really fun photos – the kind you can look back on for years and remember how much fun you had on your wedding day!
  5. Embrace the rain! – If it’s raining during your ceremony and you can’t stop it, don’t let it ruin your day. Instead, enjoy being together with family and friends while getting drenched by raindrops. It’s all part of the experience!

We hope the following tips on what to do when it rains will help you plan your event. We know you’ll do a great job planning your wedding ceremony, and we’re sure it will be everything you want it to be – even if it rains!
